questions that need to be answered
I've been building my work portfolio for the last few weeks, making slow but steady process. I've written 7 case studies, started to draft 2 more, and have 1-2 projects to reflect on still.
it's been useful just to go through the motions of remembering what I did and framing why that work was valuable... it's been useful to practice the storytelling. I'm sure it'll take me a little while longer to remember these anecdotes on the spot and let them roll off my tongue. but at least I'm starting now.
I've also started to fine tune my "about" page. I think more conversations with more freelancers and recruiters will help me with the refinement... as well as having more time to process my own experiences and accomplishments.
it's really difficult to define what I offer. I'm realizing that "what's your area of specialty" is a trick question. I've never been a specialist, because that's just not how I think about my career or my skillset. as I told rachel, I guess itβs good to be asked these questions, because how else would I know they need to be answered?
"what's your specialty?"
"what have you been working on lately?"
what, exactly, is it that you offer?
